Tonight, Isaiah Thomas Will Play With The Cavs Against The Portland Trailblazers
Isaiah Thomas will make his debut with his new team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, as they play a home game against the Portland Trailblazers.
One of the biggest storylines for the 2017-2018 NBA off-season was the trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. The two championship franchises exchanged its point guards after Kyrie Irving asked to leave to lead his own team. The Cavs and the NBA world were shocked that the crossover king wanted to leave his perch alongside the game’s best player in LeBron James, but as he did—successfully we might add—Isaiah Thomas had been languishing on the bench.
That is, until tonight. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ coach, Tyronn Lue, announced via Twitter that IT will be making his triumphant return alongside Kevin Love, Jae Crowder and King James when they take on the Portland Trailblazers in a home game. To be clear, IT will not start for the team, not yet at least, as he will be on a minutes restriction off the bench.
The two-time NBA All Star has been rehabbing an injured hip, but has since participated in scrimmages with his teammate and the G-League team, the Canton Charge. And also, the hype stops there, as Thomas will also not participate in the following game when the Cavs host the Boston Celtics, his former team, on Wednesday. For those looking to see Kyrie vs. IT, you’ll have to wait until Feb. 11 to see the latter’s on-court response to being traded out of the blue.
