Ice Cube's Big3 Cancels 2020 Season Due to COVID-19, Plans to Return in 2021

The league previously considered playing the season without fans.

The BIG3 is the latest league to cancel activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league announced that the 2020 season is off, however they will return to CBS in 2021.

"The BIG3 always wants to deliver the best for our fans under safe conditions," the league said in a statement.

"Due to a confluence of issues including safety, uncertainty of testing... and the changing nature of the virus itself, the decision was made to focus on a great return in 2021."

In late March, the league struck a deal with Endemol to create a reality show. The organization produced the hit reality series Big Brother. The plan was to create a show centered around a quarantined basketball tournament.

“Our No. 1 concern is safety,” Big3 founder Jeff Kwatinetz previously told Yahoo Sports. “Aside from being able to work with the best creative producers possible for this type of show, they’re also the right people to ensure safety and health because they’ve done this for over 20 years in a hundred countries.”

In the statement, the league says the show will still premiere the show, Not in My House, sometime before the 2021 season.

The German Bundesliga soccer league, as well as NASCAR and Korea's KBO baseball league recently resumed their regular-season schedules. The NBA is currently holding virtual meetings to discuss potentially resuming the season.
