Pieced together from the Motown vault, a retro-fit (and slightly recalibrated) batch of rarities from the late Marvin Gaye's catalog arrived this morning. Duking it out with Gaye for the day's crown, Roy Ayers' increasingly hard-to-find (and freshly reissued) Silver Vibrations, has finally blessed us with the opportunity to burn the disco-jazz giant's Windy City anthem until our Achilles snap. On the contemporary side of soul, Phonte snuck out a svelt four-track project, featuring Kaytranada, BOSCO, and Devin Morrison. Meanwhile, Quelle Chris and DJ Muggs held down the underground with their respectively rugged releases.
