It hasn’t been an easy week for those with any reverence for Prodigy and his place amongst hip-hop’s all-time top-tier. At just 42 years, the Queensbridge rapper had established a rare legacy, spanning two decades and the world over.
So we’ve been wracking our archives for fond memories of the late MC, beginning with last week’s release of Mobb Deep‘s high-octane “Shook Ones Pt. II” performance at The 10th Annual Roots Picnic in Philly earlier this month. Today, we’re happy to bring you one of Prodigy’s final interviews, captured backstage at the festival. The duo take their time in a lightening round of The Questions, delving into their favorite seasonal pastimes and destinations, Prodigy repping his hometown’s infamous summers and relishing just the thought. They go on to share a few guiding principles for the next generation and reveal their most coveted collaboration, but P’s gratitude for his new lease and the unreal humility he displays throughout should be of note.
