Good Friday, good people. Release Day's arrived with a mountain of new heat, so let's get to excavating while we still can.

Short on the long-plays — save for the sprawling Gangster Music Vol. 1 compilation and Kari Faux's micro-project, CRY 4 HELP — singles lead the charge. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib (who's somehow, after damn-near 30 years, getting...better?) tossed up the menacing (presumably) title track to their forthcoming album, Bandana. Tierra Whack kept the north-of-a-minute singles campaign rolling with the slick new loosie "Gloria." Kindness crept back into the sequence with a Robyn and a jolt on "Cry Everything." Steve Lacy popped up on one of two new singles from Vampire Weekend. Jitwam returned with a simmering slow-knock special. Channel Tres went four-to-the-floor on another acid-blotted house heater. And that's just the tip of the tale.
