An abbreviated week wasn’t short on the heat.
Happy Release Day, good people. And a prosperous, injury-free, Black Friday unto you all. While we were all succumbing to the sweet spell of high-calorie comas, the drops took no such break. So let’s get to it before the leftovers run out.
The week was anchored by the long-awaited release of Prince‘s 1999 outtakes, packaged with two previously-unreleased live shows and all of the rare and extended remixes your purple heart can bear. Then there’s NYC rap renegade, MIKE, and his heartfelt, hard-bar, send-up to his late mother, May God Bless Your Hustle. Finally, the Griselda gang rallied the troops for the grizzly vice rap masterclass, WWCD.
On the singles side, there’s a tender transmission from Georgia Anne Muldrow, a skittering, sun-blotted gem from Obongjayar, an 8-bit serenade from Ade Hakim and Camden Malik, and a glistening, phantom-looped loosie from MESSIAH!. But that’s just half the script.
