Young Thug Reportedly Faces New Charges In YSL RICO Case

After being denied bond in June, Young Thug faces a slew of new charges including two criminal street gang activity-related charges.

Young Thug is currently facing new charges from a new indictment as a part of the Young Stoner Life Records RICO  case.

According to WSB-TV2 Atlanta, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office the charges are against Thug and four other defendants stemming from arrests made on March 17 and May 9. “Many charges stem from evidence authorities recovered during a search of Thug’s home in Georgia upon his arrest in May as part of a 56-count indictment against him, Gunna, and 26 other YSL members,” per Complex.

The newest charges Thug faces include two criminal street gang activity-related charges, three charges of violation of the Georgia controlled substances act, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and possession of a machine gun, Complex reports. The District Attorney’s Office believes these charges further prove the prosecution’s claim that Thug performed for years as a leader of a criminal street gang.

In the machine gun count, two other defendants were named: Martinez Arnold and Deamonte ‘Yak Gotti’ Kendrick.

Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel shared the following statement previously regarding his involvement with the case: “Mr. Williams has committed no violation of law, whatsoever. We will fight this case ethically, legally and zealously. Mr. Williams will be cleared.”

According to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the indictment is slated to impact all 28 defendants from the original indictment. “YSL is an acronym for ‘Young Slime Life,’” Willis said. “It is a hybrid gang that operates here in Atlanta and it’s an affiliate of the Bloods gang.”

Back in June after a lengthy hearing, Young Thug was denied bond. The case is set to go to trial on January 9, 2023. Additionally, an alleged co-founder of the YSL collective was also denied bond in June. He turned himself in.
