Today, March 8th, Yasiin Bey entered the Bellville Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town only to be turned away for refusing to shed the turban he had worn. He returned, donning instead a purple headscarf, after which, the court suggested a two-week postponement of the hearing, adding even more time to an already unreasonable and mandated stay in Cape Town, where he was arrested and charged with using a false identity, presumably for the use of a World Passport when trying to leave the country almost two months ago. Bey was granted a R 5,000 bail, or roughly $435 USD, according to Okayafrica.

The new date for Yasiin's hearing will be March 24th. The story is, of course, still developing and we'll be sure to have updates on the matter as they arrive in the days and weeks ahead. If you're looking to keep yourself abreast of developments, we encourage you to keep a close eye on Okayafrica and revisit their coverage of the official statement from Yasiin Bey's camp.
