The woman in the newly-surfaced XXXTentacion video has come forward with her side of the story.

After a video in which 20-year-old rapper XXXTentacion appeared to punch a woman in the head surfaced online Monday, the unidentified woman has now addressed the incident, saying she was afraid to come forward before.

In the video, the rapper— born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy— can be seen standing behind the woman, dancing as she records herself, and then striking her in the head before the video cuts off.

“I was terrified for my life, ” the woman wrote in a post on Instagram Wednesday. “Imagine someone doing that to u unprovoked,” she continued, adding that she was 16 years old at the time of the incident. She also says she would have not come forward if the footage never leaked online.

“Truth of the matter is I would still be holding on to this secret if it wasn’t leaked. So stop w/ the ‘clout chasing’ bullshit. I wasn’t the one to originally leak the video.”

According to TMZ, the video—which is not thought to be recent, based on his hair style and color— reached the attention of the 20-year-old rapper’s prosecutors in his domestic violence case. XXX’s attorney, Jaclyn Broudy reportedly told TMZ, “The video was taken completely in jest.”

XXXTentacion was arrested in 2016 on multiple charges, including aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness-tampering.

It’s unclear how the video will affect XXX’s case.
