On Monday night RAW, chief brand officer of WWE Stephanie McMahon announced the first-ever all-women’s Pay-Per-View event.
“WWE Evolution” is set to take place on October 28th and will feature Women’s Championship matches from Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT and NXT UK, as well as the finals of the all-women’s tournament, the Mae Young Classic 2018.
The entire women’s roster— including Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Carmella, Nia Jax and Asuka, Hall of Famers and Legends Trish Stratus, Lita— is set to be at the event.
“A huge milestone in the #evolution of women’s wrestling.Every bit of hard work and dedication has been worth it,” Rebecca Quin tweeted. “We’ve come so far and I’m so proud of everyone that’s contributed to getting us here.”
“Feeling so excited & proud to stand along side these strong, brave women to hear the IICONIC announcement tonight,” SmackDown wrestler Peyton Royce tweeted Monday night. “Can’t believe I get to be a part of this.”
According to Forbes, WWE research shows that 40% of its fans are women and girls. The women of WWE are also some of the most-followed athletes on social media.
