In a report from Atlanta news station WSB-TV 2, Aaron Barnes-Burpo and Walker Washington claimed to be with the entertainment firm Roc Nation and the Wu-Tang Clan. The pair, along with other men, walked out on tabs from Georgian Terrace hotel and Hyatt Regency worth $45,000 and $39,000, respectively.

In a separate report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the group’s scam came to an end when they tried to check in for a reservation at a Fairfield Inn and Suites in Augusta, Georgia, where 10 rooms were booked.

Per the Journal-Constitution:

“The reservation listed Roc Nation and the Wu-Tang Clan, prosecutors said. But the staff suspected a scam, and the hotel sales director called Roc Nation and was told the company was not associated with the men booking rooms.”

The men were then detained by Richmond County sheriff’s deputies. Washington and Barnes-Burpo are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. The credit cards used in the scam included one that was stolen, and another that was likely fake.

In related news, Wu-Tang affiliate Shyheim was released from prison after serving five years.
