In a report from WRAL.com, the incident came about when a woman named Nancy Goodman complained to Chanda Stewart and Lakesha Shaw that they were being too loud at their table at Bonefish Grill.

"We're paying for our food just like everyone else, and she told us that we are the rudest people," Stewart can be heard saying in a cellphone video of the incident.

Goodman then pulls out her own phone and can be seen walking toward Stewart and Shaw.

"I've got real good friends who are black, and I love them," Goodman tells the pair.

"We never said anything about color," Stewart responds.

"You're too loud," Goodman says.

"In your opinion," Shaw replies. "Let me show you my money. It's just as green as yours."

"Why are you so stupid ni**er?" Goodman tells Shaw as she walks off.

"Do you call your black friends [that]?" the women ask her.

"They're not like you," Goodman says as she grabs he purse to leave the restaurant.

Goodman doubled down on her remark, telling a reporter from WRAL.com that she said the N-word because Stewart and Shaw "forced me into it."

"Do you see how that's incredibly offensive?" the reporter responds.

"Yes, I do, that's why I said it," Goodman says, before adding that she would say the racial slur to Stewart and Shaw again.

A spokeswoman for Bloomin' Brands Inc., the parent company that oversees Bonefish Grill, said that the restaurant is reviewing the incident.

"We are a place for all people to gather for good food in a comfortable atmosphere, including positive interactions among guests. We do not tolerate hate speech or disrespect in our restaurants," Elizabeth Watts, the spokeswoman, said in a statement. "We are reviewing the incident to see how we can do better at de-escalating something like this in the future."
