Mixtape Mondays: DJ Day, Boogie Blind, Peter Rosenberg

First off, there are no tracklists available for any of this week’s selections.  Just wanted to get that out of the way. All of you trainspotters out there will have to work a little harder! That said, we’ve selected another trio of great mixes this week.  Boogie Blind breaks the soul and funk for a mix of all 45s.  HOT97’s Peter Rosenberg pays tribute to J Dilla and Big Pun.  DJ Day gives us a taste of his new album and some of the songs that inspired it!

DJ Day – “Way Out Of Living II“

With his new album, Land Of 1000 Chances, due out soon, DJ Day drops a mix featuring new tracks from the album, remixes, and classic gems from other artists that served as inspiration.  We really wanna know what’s up with that Steely Dan “Kid Charlemagne”/ Patrice Rushen “Remind Me” blend though?  Can we get that a download of that too?

Boogie Blind – “Blazing 45s Rehearsal Set“

NYC’s Boogie Blind shared this mix he recorded in preparation for a guest spot at the Blazing 45s party in LA.  Using nothing but 45s, Boogie presents a near flawless mix of funk and soul gems.  Sounds like heads in LA had a great night of music!

Peter Rosenberg – “#DillaPun Mix“

February 7th not only marked what would have been J Dilla‘s 39th birthday, but it also marked 13 years since the death of Big Pun.  HOT97’s Pete Roseneberg pays tribute to two hip-hop greats taken from us too soon with this excellent mix!
