Actress and producer Viola Davis is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the top of the new year. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez remarked, “Viola is one of the actresses who always mesmerize fans with her talent. She is amazing and we are thrilled that she will grace our world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.” Davis is in the new film Fences, which is based on August Wilson‘s Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name. The film stars Denzel Washington, Jovan Adepo, Stephen McKinley-Henderson, Russell Hornsby, Mykelti Williamson and Saniyya Sydney. The film, which is receiving highly favorable reviews, was directed by Denzel Washington. Fences had a limited release on December 16, 2016 and will open wide on December 25. Davis is also nominated for the 2017 NAACP Image Awards for her role in the television show How to Get Away with Murder. The emcees for Viola Davis’ Walk of Fame inauguration include Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler and Meryl Streep as a guest speaker. The ceremony will take place on January 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at 7013 Hollywood Boulevard and will also be live streamed.
