Video Premiere: Ka "No Downtime"

If you know the work of indie rap vet Ka (rap nerds will note he was in Natural Elements with Mr. Voodoo and L-Swift) you already know he is Brooklyn's best-kept secret. Well not so kept these days, what with a recent co-sign from the homie Jon Caramanicain the NY Times and the love and support of Okayplayers like Yasiin Bey and Erykah Badu. Which is why we're especially proud to host the premiere of his brand new video "No Downtime," which captures everything we love about this cat; incredible beat selection and a unique flow that's so BK it's almost UK--he sounds like a cross between Guru and Tricky and a philosophy of cool that's 100% Ka. The video (which Ka directed) matches his style perfectly; a window onto the world that's as grimy as a Brooklyn back-alley and as classic as a gallery-ready black and white print. Enjoy above and be on the look out for our forthcoming Okayplayer interview profile. This is off Ka's new LP Grief Pedigree by the way--cop it on iTunes now and also please note: Ka will be performing alongside Busta Rhymes at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Fest July 14 at Brooklyn Bridge Park--more info here and keep up to date at BrownsvilleKa.com
