For Tyler The Creator, 2016 has been more devoted to extracurricular endeavors — fashion, poems, television, street-racing with r&b enigmas, hosting festival with friends and music heavies — than strictly musical output. Sure there have been a few loose ones here and there (“My Ego” and that better-than-the-original “Pillow Talk” remix that’s still in rotation) but Tyler’s been keeping it pretty low-key compared to years past.
A few weeks back, the Odd Future ring-leader shared a trailer for an upcoming feature length documentary exploring the creation of his 2015 release, Cherry Bomb. And today, we learn even more about his fourth studio album and the Madlib collaboration that never was with the recent surfacing of the unreleased Beat Konducta-produced cut “Batman,” which was teased in the months following Cherry Bomb‘s release and finally liberated for the rest of the world to hear today by a particularly-resourceful Reddit user, according to Mass Appeal. Our complaint: there needs to be two to three more minutes of tacked onto the end, as this is the clearest display of Tyler’s straight ahead rap prowess we’ve seen thus far.
Listen to Tyler The Creator’s Madlib-helmed “Batman” below and hope with us all that the full track exists somewhere, some how.
