In a string of tweets released Saturday morning, Trump criticized the mayor of Puerto Rico's capital city for "poor leadership."

In the tweets, he seemed to suggest that Carmen Yulín Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan, along with other Puerto Rico officials were not doing enough following Hurricane Maria, saying that they "want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort."

He then proceeded to praise the military and the first responders for the relief efforts in Puerto Rico, writing: "The military and first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an amazing job. Puerto Rico was totally destroyed."

Trump's criticisms of Cruz seem to be politically-related, with the former claiming that the latter had "been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump."

Trump's remarks have received backlash on social media, with people posting pictures of Cruz on the grounds helping and consoling residents.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has also called out Trump for his attack on Cruz.

"She has been working 24/7.You have been GOLFING. You're going straight to hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took," Miranda tweeted. Trump is currently spending the weekend at his golf club in New Jersey and was slated to hold a series of phone calls on Saturday in regards to relief after Hurricane Maria.
