Tracy Morgan & Viola Davis Made Us All Winners At Last Night's Emmy Awards

Watch Tracy Morgan's Touching Emmys Appearance

Last night, amongst Hollywood egos dressed in tuxes and gowns, Tracy Morgan made his triumphant return to the Emmys stage. Presenting the evening's final award for Best Drama Series, the cherished comedian, delivered a touching and emotional account of how far he'd come since the fatal car accident that claimed the life of friend and collaborator James McNair 14 months ago, thanking his devoted team of doctors and the world for their support through such dark, trying times. But even with such a somber tone to the address, Morgan maintained an air of humor, as only a man of his caliber could, claiming "When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn I wasn't the one who messed up."

Then, as his moving moment came to a close (and with fellow 30 Rock & SNL alum cheering him on from the crowd) Morgan made it clear that his funny was far from lost in recovery, adding that come time for those post-awards festivities that " a lot of the women gonna get pregnant at the after party." Classic Tracy.

And while it was certainly a moment of profound relief for those wondering if Morgan would ever return to his pre-accident form, his moment under the lights did not outshine the evening's most historic accomplishment in Viola Davis' Best Lead Actress In A Drama Series win, making her the first black woman in Emmys history to do so. It isn't often that a TV award show can bring such deeply moving memories, but I can't help but feel that with Tracy and Viola, we all won. Watch both Tracy Morgan and Viola Davis' massive Emmy moments below and tune in to NBC on October 17th to see Morgan make his return to the stage that made him a household name, hosting SNL with musical guest Demi Lovato.
