Todd McFarlane Wants To Bring Us The 'Spawn' Reboot We Deserve

Perhaps some of you are old enough to remember that stretch of the nineties when Spawn was inescapable. The demonic CIA agent-turned-anti-hero even got his own film treatment with Michael Jai White as the gravelly-voiced lead and John Leguizamo as the sadistic clown villain, Violator. And despite being an early victim of still-fledgling CGI, it was the first comic book-based film to even attempt a gritty and dark template, nearly a decade before The Nolan Brothers took the helm of the Batman franchise.

Nonetheless, a Spawn reboot, fit with the technological capabilities of the day, is long overdue. And Spawn creator, Todd McFarlane is all-in for it and wants to get it right this time around, going on 20 years since the original's box office debut. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, McFarlane revealed that he's in possession of a "dark, R-rated, scary, badass sort of script," which was been complete since the beginning of the year and that the new manifestation of Spawn will be a shadowy one that dips in and out of the panels. Can't be sure that we'll see it anytime soon, but it seems like McFarlane wants to bring us the reboot we deserve. Only time will tell though, as there is no production schedule or cast yet.
