At the top of the year, it was revealed that Erykah Badu would be starring in the feature film, The Land, adding yet another acting role to her belt in era when the analog girl is clearly still wrecking the digital world, particularly in the form of her surprise album, But You Caint Use My Phone.
Today, the film’s official trailer has landed upon the internets, showcasing a gripping narrative of Cleveland skaters sorting out their ambitions while doing wrong to do right. Alongside Badu, the film stars Michael K. Williams and Machine Gun Kelly, but the film’s most glaring feature may just be its soundtrack, which is slated to include new music from Badu, Kanye West, Pusha T, Nosaj Thing and the executive producer himself, Nasty Nasir Jones. The Land is currently slated for a July 29th release with Mass Appeal Records handling the release of the star-studded soundtrack. You can watch the official trailer for The Land below, just be sure to keep that ear to the ground as the sheer breadth of artists associated with this production will make the next few months in music awfully exciting.
