Terrace Martin Talks Pimps, Herbie Hancock + Influences On Snoop Dogg's GGN Web Series [Premiere]
Nowadays, Terrace Martin is the go-to-guy when it comes to doing something funky fresh and innovative in music. His work on To Pimp A Butterfly and his own Velvet Portraits have turned this son of a studio musician into this generation’s own Quincy Jones. For those unfamiliar with his rep, Terrace Martin, in his early days worked with Snoop Dogg as one of his most sought after producers. So, it comes as no surprise that the two would link up in this newest episode of the latter’s popular GGN web series on MERRY JANE.
Making its premiere on Okayplayer, Terrace Martin sits down with Nemo Hoes (Snoop Dogg) and talks about working and getting into “fan mode” with Herbie Hancock, tells a story about being at a low-key pimp convention at Snoop’s function, his sixth studio album, Velvet Portraits and how his musical influences inspired his work on To Pimp A Butterfly. The celebrated multi-instrumentalist and two-time Grammy Award winner continues to ring bells, and fortunately, we’re able to cheer him on before he heads out on his first headlining tour with The Polly Seeds.
In addition to the MTV show, Mary + Jane, and GGN, Snoop also recently launched MERRY JANE with media entrepreneur Ted Chung. The duo have partnered up with Seth Rogen, Guy Oseary and Miley Cyrus. MERRY JANE serves as a crossroads for pop culture, cannabis culture, business, politics and health. Please check out MERRYJANE.com for more original cannabis content.
