The sentencing stems from his 2015 arrest for the use of a child in a sexual performance.

Controversial Brooklyn rapper Tekashi6ix9ine has been sentenced to probation stemming from a 2015 arrest over the use of a child in a sexual performance.

In a Manhattan courthouse on Friday, Judge Felicia A. Mennin sentenced 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, to four years of probation— with credit for one year served prior to the sentencing—for violating the conditions of a plea agreement.

He will not be required to register as a sex offender because of a Youthful Offender adjudication, due to the fact that the crime occurred when he was 18.

According to a report in Pitchfork, 6ix9ine will be required to complete 1000 hours of community service, refrain from gang affiliated activities, and the posting or reposting online sexually explicit or violent images of women or children.

According to a report in The Blast, He said his “goal is to be the biggest superstar” and empower kids, alluding to his charity efforts.

He reportedly told the judge, “What kind of kid would want to meet Tekashi 69 if I was such a bad guy?” and “There are people who deserve to be in jail but Daniel Hernandez is not one of them.”

In March of 2015, video that 6ix9ine posted online shows interacting with a nude 13-year-old-girl on camera. The footage reportedly does not show him engaged in sexual acts, but shows him present and in contact while two adult males are performing sexual acts on the child. In October 2015, he plead guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance charge and took a plea deal that stipulated he get his GED. The terms also required him to avoid further incidents, arrests, and legal troubles until his sentencing date.

Within that time, he was charged with misdemeanor assault in Texas for allegedly grabbing a teenager by the neck, then he was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Brooklyn, and charged with misdemeanor assault for an incident involving an NYPD officer.

According to The Blast, Tekashi will be able to appeal the probation violation conviction.
