Actress Taraji P. Henson made waves this weekend during her debut as host of Saturday Night Live. Opening with the gospel monologue “I Made It”, Henson did a bang-up job in character as a wartime baseball player circa A League Of Their Own, Nicki Minaj and Empire‘s saucy matriarch Cookie Lyon. Taking her character from the acclaimed FOX series to Sesame Street, Cookie gets the best of Cookie Monster and shakes things up around the neighborhood before leaving in a red fur that might look a bit familiar. Check the footage below to get a taste of Taraji P. Henson’s performance on SNL. Get more from this week’s episode, including a stellar cold open from Kate McKinnon, via NBC.
