Watch A Group Of Talented Kids Cover The 'Luke Cage' Theme Song

So by now you have surely finished watching the first season of Luke Cage, and are impatiently awaiting the next Marvel/Netflix series to drop. But let us revisit Luke Cage through one of its most important and notable parts — its theme song.

Created by Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge, the theme song for Luke Cage is a simultaneous homage to hip-hop and blaxploitation film soundtracks. In that opening you get a sense of the world Luke Cage is trying to create: cool, mysterious and smooth.

Well, the theme song was covered by a group of what looks like middle school students, and it is incredible.

The conductor counts in the ensemble as a drummer starts everything off. From there, layers upon layers of keyboard parts are added, with each one substituting a different instrument. Seeing everything come together second by second is such a treat, and of course we have to shout out the kid in the hoodie, who seems to be pulling double duty as pianist and hype man.

Adrian Younge discovered the video and uploaded it to his Instagram, with the following caption:

"These kids totally made my heart melt with the Marvel's Luke Cage theme. Absolutely amazing and unbelievable. The drums!"

This is an example of the power of the arts in schools across the country. The fact that these children are recreating the Luke Cage theme song and having with it, is such a sight to see.

"We wanted to make a huge statement with the music and the score, and really wanted it to stand out as something that no one has ever heard for television," Ali Shaheed Muhammad had told us about the music of Luke Cage.

Judging by this video Muhammad and Younge not only did that, but inspired a group of children to hopefully create their own music someday.
