Sugarhill Gang, DJ E-Z Rock + More To Be Honored At The Hip Hop Hall Of Fame Awards

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

The Hip Hop Hall Of Fame will be honoring a number of hip-hop legends at this years awards ceremony being held at Stage 48 in New York City. Whether you're a hip-hop crate digger or not you will know some of the classic tracks made by those who are being honored. Rodney Bryce AKA DJ E-Z Rock, passed late last month but will forever be remembered for the smash hit he produced with Rob Base called "It Takes Two." Of course it rings a bell, hitting No. 3 on the Billboard charts and No. 1 on any 90s playlist.  The late  will be memorialized with an all-star performance at what is set to be a historic moment for hip-hop fans. Honorees being inducted this year include The Sugarhill Gang, director Charles Ahearn and his film Wildstyle, Mr. Magic, Busy Bee, Spoonie G & The TreacherousThree, Sequence, Cornbread, Mercedes Ladies, DJ Hollywood, The Twins, Stay High 149, and Ernie Paniccioli.

Hip Hop Hall Of Fame founder JT Thompson is not only focused on hip-hop music but hip-hop culture on a whole inducting not only musicians but directors, films and dancers.

"The artists, groups, deejays, b-boys/girls, graffiti artists and entrepreneurs being inducted have all made significant contributions to the birth, establishment, and advancement of the hip hop culture," says JT Thompson, Hip Hop Hall of Fame founder. "This Awards show is going to be memorable and will go down in music history."

On Monday, May 19th Talib Kweli, Brand Nubian, Slick Rick, MC Busy Bee, Nine and Rakim will all take be in the spotlight at the awards ceremony, which is set to take place at Manhattan's Stage 48 and will hosted by legendary female rapper Roxanne Shanté and DJ Mell Star.
