DJ & Dancer Stephen 'tWitch' Boss Has Died

Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, known for being a DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and host of So You Think You Can Dance, died by suicide.

Fans of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss are mourning the 40-year-old's passing, as he reportedly died in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 14 by suicide. Boss, who was a DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, professional dancer and host of So You Think You Can Dance, was confirmed deceased by his wife of nine years, Allison Holker. The couple share three children.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband, Stephen, has left us," Holker said in a statement. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."

"To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt," she added. "I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory."

Boss became a professional dancer in 2003 after appearing on former MTV dance competition The Wade Robinson Project and later, Star Search. Prior to hosting So You Think You Can Dance in 2018, the Alabama native starred on season 4 of the competition in 2008, a runner-up to winner Joshua Allen. In 2022, Boss became a judge of the FOX series.

In 2014, Boss started out as a guest DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, eventually becoming resident DJ on the talk show for eight years and serving as co-executive producer for its final two years. Boss was also an announcer on NBC's Ellen's Game of Games, which ran from 2017 to 2021.

Continuing his appearances in both television and film, Boss starred in 2010's Step Up 3D, 2012's Step Up Revolution, 2014's Step Up All In, and 2015's Magic Mike XXL. Along with his wife, Boss also hosted Disney Plus series Disney Fairy Tale Weddings.
