The FBI Is Now Investigating The Death Of Shanquella Robinson

Shanquella Robinson mysteriously died while in Mexico. Some people are comparing the incident to what happened to Kenneka Jenkins in 2017.

A family from Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking answers surrounding the mysterious death of their daughter, Shanquella Robinson.

In a report from local news station WBTV, Bernard and Salamondra Robinson last saw their daughter on October 28, the day she and some of her friends left to Cabo, Mexico for a vacation. Fast forward to almost a month later, and the parents still have no idea of what really led to their 25-year-old daughters death.

As the Robinson's shared with WBTV, they were told by Shanquella's friends that she died from alcohol poisoning after they got in touch with the parents that following Saturday after they arrived in Cabo.

"On Saturday evening, they called and said she wasn’t feeling well, and they were going to call a doctor," Salamondra said. "And when they called, the doctor hadn’t arrived yet, but they said she had alcohol poisoning."

However, upon receiving an autopsy report after making calls to the FBI and Mexican authorities, they realized that what led to her death contrasted what her friend's had told them.

"After they said it was alcohol poisoning, we received the autopsy report on Thursday and it said that her neck had been broken and she had a back spasm there was a crack, spinal cord was crack,” the parents said. “That took it to a whole ‘nother level because that meant somebody had attacked her.”

Since Shanquella died in Mexico, national agencies became involved with the incident. However, in a statement to another news outlet, Queen City News, the U.S. State Department in Mexico refuted the claim that Robinson murdered, adding that there was no clear evidence of foul play according to police.

Since then, Shanquella's friends have returned to Charlotte. They left her body back in Cabo; the Robinsons recently retrieved their daughter's body on Thursday. In more recent reports, WCNC Charlotte shared that the FBI Charlotte Field Office is launching an investigation into Shanquxlla's death.

As news of Shanquella's death has made its way to social media, so have theories surrounding the incident. Some users believe that it was one of the friends who killed her, with a video being shared that allegedly shows her being beaten up by someone, while someone else records the altercation. According to a report from Rolling Stone, the video was first published by a North Carolina blog and that it "identified several friends they claimed were on the Cabo trip with Shanquella at the time of her death." The report continues on, mentioning how the blog identified a man present in the group named Namer Wiggins. Although Wiggins did confirm he was a part of the Cabo trip, he denied the blog’s claim that he was responsible for Shanquelle's death, saying that he arrived in Cabo after the group asked for medical attention, according to an Instagram story post Wiggins shared Tuesday night. In a separate report from The Daily Beast, the North Carolina blogger was revealed to be Gerald Jackson, who said he received the video from “someone who was in the room that sent it to an individual family member they are friends with.” In that same report, Shanquella's father also confirmed that the woman being beaten in the clip is his daughter.

Others users are comparing the incident to the mysterious death of Kenneka Jenkins, the 19-year-old who was found dead inside a latched freezer of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare hotel back in September 2017. Jenkins' death was also surrounded in mystery. When initial reports came out about the incident, Jenkins' mother, Tereasa Martin, was told by police that her daughter had apparently let herself into the freezer while intoxicated and died inside (Jenkins was at the hotel for a party). But Martin was skeptical of this, as well as accounts Jenkins' friends who were also present at the party gave, saying that their stories "changed over and over."
