A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario” Gets The Sesame Street Treatment

Over the last month, we’ve seen and heard damn-near the entire hip-hop community show their love and respect to the late Phife Dawg, who passed on March 22nd of complications with diabetes. The salutes have ranged from on-stage to on-air to on-record vigils, led by hip-hip heavyweights of all ages and denominations, culminating in a live and direct Apollo Theater tribute that saw literally the entire galaxy of hip-hop stars putting forth their warmest memories.

Today, the commemorations come from a slightly uncharacteristic source. Namely, that of Sesame Street, where musical musings and childhood fodder tend to collide in the most unconventional, yet wholly enjoyable ways. The latest salute arrives in the form of a mash, where the daytime muppet crew blaze through A Tribe Called Quest‘s anthemic icono-cut, “Scenario.” And best of all, you won’t have to be glued to the tube in order to see it all go down.
