Scales Of Nappy Roots Shot And Kidnapped In Atlanta

On Wednesday night, Scales of rap group Nappy Roots was robbed, shot and kidnapped from his Atlanta brewery Atlantucky Brewing.

On Wednesday night (August 18) Scales of hip-hop group Nappy Roots was attacked and kidnapped from Atlanta brewery Atlantucky Brewing, which he also co-owns. Authorities say that around 11 PM, the rapper, whose real name is Melvin Adams Jr., was robbed and shot at the brewery, which is located Castleberry Hill neighborhood near the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Closing the brewery for the evening, Adams was approached by at least two suspects, per Atlanta news station 11Alive. Police say that the gunman first robbed a customer in the parking lot of Atlantucky Brewing before entering the business and robbing Adams.

The rapper and business owner was then forced into the captors' vehicle, which was driven towards Hapeville. Adams ultimately escaped, but was inflicted with a gunshot wound during the altercation. While he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition, the vehicle that the suspects drove was found Oak Street in Hapeville. Police also say that the suspects were unsuccessful with stealing money from Atlantucky Brewing, which opened on February 4. With the brewery owned by Nappy Roots, the owners plan to heighten security presence at the establishment.

Fellow Nappy Roots member Skinny shared that he was "relieved" that Adams survived the incident.

“I am certainly relieved that my business partner and brother Scales is safe and recovering … that is what is most important. We are certainly also praying for the patron who was shot outside the establishment.”
