Roberts-Joseph was 75-years-old.

As Baton Rouge braces itself for Barry's landfall, local police are reporting that the body of Sadie Roberts-Joseph was discovered in the trunk a car early Friday evening.

According to WAFB, the 75-year-old founder of The Odell S. Williams Now & Then Museum of African American History was found in a car on the 2300 block of North 20th Street, just 3.5 miles away from her home. A cause of death is still unknown. Though homicide is suspected, Sgt. L'Jean McKneely said this morning that the department is awaiting a coroner's examination to determine a precise cause.

Locals remember Roberts-Joseph as "a longtime black history and voice for peace" in the city. According to The New York Times, the museum she founded in 2001 features exhibits on growing cotton, black entrepreneurship, and a 1953 bus from the Baton Rouge's civil rights boycotts.

The story is still developing. Hold tight for updates in the hours ahead.
