At the time, Rage guitarist Tom Morello said the rap collective left the tour "because of difficulties they're having within their own group."

Rage Against the Machine made headlines last Friday, as the group officially announced their plans for a reunion tour. In the wake of this news, RZA expressed a desire for the rock band and Wu-Tang Clan to reunite and finish a tour they did in the '90s that they never finished.

A TMZ reporter asked RZA about Rage's reunion, citing a 1997 concert where the two groups performed.

"It's a great thing for Rage to reunite. Tom and Zach getting back together [for] Coachella. It's going to be exciting," RZA said. "If the stars line up right, I would love to see [them] - when they finish that Coachella run - to hook up with Wu-Tang and finish that tour we never finished."

"I think right now, the way the times are, we need Rage Against The Machine," RZA added. "It's perfect timing for them, perfect energy for them, and we think that the climate is right for Rage. Just like the timing is right for Wu-Tang. Let's rock the world."

At the time, Rage guitarist Tom Morello said the rap collective left the tour "because of difficulties they're having within their own group."

"They've never been on a regular tour before. Some of the very fundamental things that rock bands learn when they're driving around in their vans were utterly unknown to them," Morello said.

Prior to Rage Against the Machine announcing their reunion tour, the members of the group (minus frontman Zach de la Rocha) had formed Prophets of Rage. The group included Cypress Hill's B-Real and Public Enemy's Chuck D.
