There is a pervasive fear from those in politico land that the Oscars will be another politicized night of resistance against the Trump administration.

While they might be right, it seems that most of the actors who are currently walking the red carpet are quietly supporting the American Civil Liberties Union. By donning this blue ribbon pin, which you can see in the photo above, celebrities are showing off their solidarity.

Ruth Negga, who starred in the interracial drama Loving, wore the pin on her red, flowing, long-sleeve gown. Meanwhile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is going for pure EGOT status with tonight’s nomination for Moana, sported the ribbon on his suit lapel, as did his date, his mother Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda.

According to a statement from the ACLU, the accessories are part of the civil rights organization’s latest initiative, “Stand With ACLU,” which encourages support “for the rights and civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution to everyone in the United States.”

The recent passing of actor Bill Paxton might taper off some of the vitriol that might fly out in these acceptance speeches, but to see certain stars support the ACLU is very encouraging.
