Attorney For Robert Fuller Disputes Rumor That He Hung Himself Over Alleged Lewd Charge Arrest

The rumor has reportedly been spread by members of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the same agency investigating the death of Robert Fuller.

According to the attorney for Robert Fuller, members of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department are spreading “false information” about the 24-year-old’s death.

In a report from ABC News, Jamon Hicks, the attorney for Fuller’s family, addressed the rumor that Fuller died by suicide because he had been arrested on an alleged lewd charge.

“I am concerned about who is leaking this false information,” Hicks said. “To state that [the charge] was a 288, which is the code for lewd and lascivious, gives me great concern that there is someone within the sheriff’s department leaking false information.”

Hicks added that he believes the arrest rumor is false because Fuller “and his family would never have been able to afford” the bail for the charge in order to be out in public to have hung himself.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is tasked with investigating Fuller’s death. As ABC noted, the agency has repeatedly declined to comment on the rumor or its origin. Fuller was found around 4 am with a rope around his neck, hanging from a tree in Poncitlan Square on June 10. Poncitlan Square is near Palmdale City Hall.

Previously, Lt. Brandon Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau said that “All indicators point to a suicide” for Fuller’s death, “but investigators are waiting for full autopsy results and information from the man’s next of kin regarding past issues with mental illness.”

Since then, the LA County Coroner’s office “has withdrawn their initial preliminary assessment of death by suicide as the cause of Robert Fuller’s death,” according to a statement from the City of Palmdale.
