Springtime in New York, man, there’s nothing like it. The weather is finally on the up-and-up, people are wearing less and music is blaring from every corner. All of this makes for fertile ground when the Red Bull Music Academy Festival returns for another year of illustrious programming.

As you can see in the calendar above, the RBMA Festival will be bringing more critically acclaimed original events that not only celebrates New York’s rich musical legacy, but spotlights legends that helped shape the sounds and styles of culture. From April 29 to May 21, 2017 — the Red Bull Music Academy Festival will feature joints ranging from parties (“A Bed-Stuy Function,” “New Jack Swing: The Hype Dance”) to impactful conversations (“A Conversation With Teddy Riley,” “Alvin Lucier”) to once-in-a-lifetime performances (“Moodymann Plays Prince,” “Sacred Bones 10”).

Taking place in some of New York City’s most unique venues (the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art) — this year’s RBMA Festival will make believers out of dreamers who want to get the inside scoop on anything and everything music related. We here are particularly looking forward to the conversation with Teddy Riley, as he talks about his influential career, working with Michael Jackson and pioneering the New Jack Swing sound.
