Record Store Day 2017 Stats Are In: Here Are the Top Selling Records

This year was the 10th anniversary of Record Store Day. A week and a half after the occasion, and the verdict is in. Record Store Day 2017 was a huge success.
Nielsen Music has just released the statistics from that day, and they are reporting that Record Store Day 2017 saw a 193% jump in physical album sales for independent record stores in comparison to the prior week. That is a record.
There were a bunch of cool specials and exclusives available, so it was a big week for vinyl records in general. At indie retailers, there were 409,000 vinyl albums sold last week. That represented a 484% increase in Vinyl LP sales over the prior week.
