Ray West Kool Keith A Couple of Slices
You week(end)'s about to get a whole lot better thanks to a delicious new offering from Ray West, Kool Keith. The true school hip-hop triumvirate are gearing up to release a box set themed after NYC's most precious natural resource--pizza. A Couple of Slices (The Pizza Boxset) will arrive later this fall as a bundle that includes an LP, 7" single, shirt, a "secret cassette" and a screen printed pizza box (naturally).
One slice of that funky pie has already arrived--it's called "Runnin' The Field" and comes with a very special ingredient--the talents of East Coast hotshot Cormega. Profoundly deep bass and crystalline guitar strums balance out the cut's production, which is one of the more spacious and restrained bangers we've heard in quite some time. Can a track still break your neck without a snare, handclap or, at the very least, finger snaps? All you've got to do is press play to get the evidence.
