Tay-K faces life in prison if convicted on the charge of capital murder.

Tay-K's trial centered around his involvement in a home invasion that ended in a murder, began on Monday at the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth. Since then, the "The Race" rapper has pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery, but not guilty to a capital murder charge. If convicted of the latter he faces life in prison.

Now, a woman has claimed that Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, asked to borrow a gun before the home invasion took place.

In a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Mariah Quadri, who had been casually dating one of the accomplices — Latharian Merritt — in the 2016 home invasion, said she and her friend had gone to the accomplices apartment prior to the home invasion. It was there that she and her friend listened to several people plan the robbery, including Tay-K.

Quadri testified that Tay-K asked her if she, or anyone she knew, had a gun that he could borrow. She then said that she didn't give him a gun.

During the home invasion, Merritt fatally shot Ethan Walker. Zachary Beloate, another victim of the robbery, was shot in the shoulder by another accomplice — Sean Robinson — but survived.

Tay-K's defense attorneys argued that the rapper only participated in the robbery, was not armed, and had no idea that people would be shot. However, prosecutors say that he anticipated or should have anticipated that a murder could be committed when he participated in the robbery.

In a separate report from CBS Dallas, it's possible that the jury for the case will deliberate the rapper's role in the robbery by Thursday afternoon. Six other defendants have already reached deals, or been convicted in the case.
