Raekwon Drops Another Throwback With "Stop Tripping"

Raekwon takes us for another sordid stroll down memory lane with the release of the second installment of his Throwback Thursday series "Stop Tripping." Much like its predecessor "Wishing On A Star" -- which put the flip on Rose Royce's sophistofunk classic --this one reworks Horace Brown's "Tripping" ("Stop Tripping" --get it?) some of the stuff we refer to as 'ye olde pimp shit' with silky-sad chords rather reminiscent of Isaac Hayes' muzak monster "Ike's Mood" if you squint your ears. Raekwon, of course, picks up the groove on an uptown street corner, takes it to the bridge (the Verazanno Bridge, that is), wraps it in a drop-cloth and then dumps its lifeless, stiletto'd-up body in the yeti-haunted woods of central Staten Island. Okay that was kind of a long walk to get to this: Rae over Horace Brown is some classic Wu-gambino shit. Listen below:
