R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty To Multiple Charges Of Criminal Sexual Abuse

The R&B singer was recently arrested and is unable to post bail.

R. Kelly has pled not guilty to 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Cook County, Illinois.

In a report from the Associated Press, Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s attorney, pleaded not guilty on the singer’s behalf. The charges Kelly is facing involves four women, three of who prosecutors allege were underage when the abuse occurred.

Kelly is accused of forced oral penetration with two underage girls, forced sexual penetration with another underage girl, and forcefully ejaculating on another underage girl. The dates on the alleged offenses span from 1998 to 2010.

Greenberg also expects the singer to post bail Monday evening. His bond is set at $1 million and, according to CNN, his associates are trying to get the $100,000 needed to pay his bail so he can be removed from police custody.

The “I Believe I Can Fly” artist is also facing a new lawsuit according to TMZ. A woman named Heather Williams claims Kelly sexually abused her in 1998 when she was 16 years old. Pitchfork confirmed the report while noting that Williams is seeking at least $50,000.

In related news, some fans of the singer have taken to GoFundMe to try and raise money for his bail. Searching the artist’s name on the site will bring back multiple pages dedicated to getting him released. None of the pages are doing well though, with most of them having raised nothing (only one currently has $75 of its $5,000 goal).
