Questlove Curated an Epic Soundtrack for Michelle Obama’s Book Tour

Michelle Obama will also appear as a special guest on Questlove Supreme.

Questlove and Michelle Obama are teaming up for something grand.

To kick off Obama's book tour for her new memoir, Becoming, Questlove has curated the soundtrack for the event — a 3-volume playlist titled, "The Michelle Obama Musiaqualogy Vol 1. 1964-1979, Vol 2. 1980-1997, Vol 3. 1997-2018."

The playlist features decades of music from artists including Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, D’Angelo, Sam Cooke, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and George Benson.

Questlove's epic soundtrack is being played live in venues across 10 cities on the Becoming tour, and can be streamed on Spotify and PANDORA.

“Like a lot of people, I connect many of my memories with the songs and melodies I was listening to at the time," Obama said in a press statement. "From the jazz and Stevie Wonder of my childhood, to Prince and Earth, Wind, and Fire as I came into my own as an adult, to Beyoncé, Janelle Monáe, and so many others who provided the stirring backbeats of my time in the White House—music has always been a defining part of who I’ve become."

She continued,

“That’s why I’m so thankful to Questove for curating these playlists and infusing them with his signature style. Life’s a little better when we live it to Questlove’s beat.”
