Prince Gets Extra-Sultry On His New Single "This Could B Us"

We're only two weeks away from the release of Prince's new album HitNRun, and now a bit more of the record's sonic makeup has become clear. Prince shared "This Could B Us" via TIDAL Tuesday, the album's latest single that features deep, pulsating bass, twinkling piano and crackling drums. The track is an apparent re-work of "This Could Be Us" off of his ArtOfficialAge record, which only just dropped last year. It seems the Purple One has dropped a letter and gained a whole lot of low-end ooze. Is it going too far to call the new version dubstep-ish? We've got a feeling we're not completely wrong, and whatever it is it's sexy as hell.

A 30 second preview of "This Could B Us" has been put online for those abstaining from TIDAL, but don't expect to see it pop up in your Spotify or SoundCloud feed anytime soon. Prince has gone on record calling much of the conventional record industry "slavery" and praised the high-end streaming service as a platform made by artists, for artists. “Jay Z spent $100 million of his own money to build his own service. We have to show support for artists who are trying to own things for themselves," he said earlier this month.

HitNRun drops September 7th.
