The commercial, which PETA says, "envisions a world where respect is the right of every being and pays homage to Kaepernick and movements rejecting injustice," finds a number of animals — bees, bears, fish, rabbits, rats, dogs, horses, snakes, and a bald eagle — taking a knee.

"PETA's new patriotic Super Bowl ad reminds us that all individuals — regardless of any real or perceived differences — have the right to live free from bullying, domination, and injustice," a description for the video on PETA's YouTube page reads. "Speciesism is a human-supremacist worldview that, like other forms of discrimination, causes humans to treat other living, feeling beings like objects, even though they share our capacity for pain, fear, love, joy, and loneliness and have as much interest in freedom and staying alive as we do."

The animal rights organization also issued a statement on the ad on its website.

"PETA worked with a talented group of advertisers and artists who came up with the idea for our beautiful ad," the statement reads. "Positively acknowledged by Kaepernick himself, this project pays homage to all movements that remind us to open our hearts and minds and reject all forms of injustice, including sexism, ableism, racism, ageism, homophobia, and speciesism."

Since its release, people have taken to social media to comment on the ad.
