Pass The Popcorn: Watch Doomsday Appear In New 'Batman v Superman' Trailer
“Will it fly or will it flop?”
This has been the question that superhero movie fans have been wondering when it comes to Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We’ve already seen the amazingness that Marvel has planned for next year with Captain America: Civil War and its impressive Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) reveal, yet DC Comics’ is attempting to compete with its latest trailer detailing more footage and action.
If you missed the brief clip of Superman brutally unmasking Batman in what appeared to be an underground jail cell, the stakes are raised when Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) and Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) come face-to-face with the nefarious evildoer, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The second full trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice promises a spectacle as we are treated to a front row view of “the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world.”
But what happens when the strong boy scout has to face off against the rich dude (which sounds oddly similar to Marvel’s Civil War plot)?
Well, the answer lies in this clip as after the formalities turn into not-so-veiled jabs between Clark, Bruce and Lex, the attention turns to the brutality between Superman, Batman and an enemy from the past. In the previous trailers, the reasons for Batman’s anger towards Superman are set out: the collateral destruction in the Metropolis as well as his general mistrust of Superman’s limitless powers which have so far gone unchecked. As these two titans throw jabs, the biggest reveal in the trailer shows the appearance of Doomsday, the previously unseen baddie who “kills” Superman in the comics.
It appears that from the corpse of Man of Steel villain General Zod (played by Michael Shannon), Lex Luthor creates an immensely powerful beast with laser eyes capable of setting whole streets on fire. Add to the mix that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) appears in the clip to turn this superhero duo into a triumphant trio, and it seems that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice attempts to dethrone Marvel from its throne.
The Zack Snyder-directed film will also feature the debut appearance of Jason Momoa as Aquaman and there is a rumor floating around that Ezra Miller may show up as the Flash.
