Pass The Popcorn: Kerry Washington To Star As Anita Hill In "Confirmation"
Kerry Washington has been on a tear after her popular show, Scandal, returned for another season. Today, Friday, February 12 found the actress tweeting the new trailer for her HBO Film collaboration, entitled, Confirmation.
In the film, Washington will play Anita Hill, who famously accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment. Hill, then a law professor, was called by the Judiciary Committee to testify. According to HBO Films, “the project details the explosive 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings, which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way we think about sexual harassment, victims’ rights and modern-day race relations.”
Thomas is played in the film by The Wire‘s Wendell Pierce, which is surely going to be an electric performance. Jeffrey Wright plays Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree, Professor Hill’s lead attorney during the hearings; Greg Kennear portrays Joe Biden; Jennifer Hudson is Angela Wright, another Thomas accuser, who was never called to testify, and Treat Williams joins the mix as Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy.
Confirmation looks like it is going to be watercooler fodder when it airs on HBO on April 16 at 8pm ET/PT. You can watch the trailer and share your thoughts below!
