OKP News: DJ Premier Speaks On Nas Collabo LP

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

DJ Premier expands on the statements/rumors that have been swirling about a full-length Preemo collaboration with Nas, reprising their standard-setting, blueprint-defining work on "N.Y. State of Mind"; "Represent"; "Nas Is Like" and other classic joints. Apparently the talk stemmed from discussion the two had during the making of the Re: Generation project--about including Preemo beats on Nas' forthcoming Life Is Good LP, an idea which ultimately did not fit. Premier explains in the quote below:

“So I was like, ‘You know what? If it doesn’t fit that, then it doesn’t fit it. I’ll wait until we do our album,’” Premier explained. According to the producer Nas replied, "Wait, let me get through this and put this one out, we’ll start very soon this year. He’s said that before but I think this time it’s going down because there’s been more involvement with management and planning it out on how to do it. I’ma take his word for it that it’s gonna start this year.” Premier then goes on to speculate, probably in jest, that the album could be called Finally. “You can quote me, but don’t quote me.”
