Ice Cube Promises NWA Reunion At Coachella This Year

There’s been plenty of talk about a full-fledged NWA reunion in the year of Straight Outta Compton. And while the film enjoys a Oscar nom for “Best Original Screenplay” (perhaps the only film prominently featuring men and women of color to garner a shout at this year’s Academy Awards,) the subjects of that all-too-vital hip-hop narrative remain fractured by the death of Eazy E, not to mention natural tears over the writing credits and subsequent compensation for the work done on their two classic studio albums.

Despite all of that, 2015 was poised to be the year that NWA’s living members put it all aside and put up a unified front in celebration of their biopic’s massive success, with them even teasing what could have been during a performance at last year’s BET Experience. Now, with NWA having cemented their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as part of the 2016 class, Ice Cube seems convinced that he can make the long-rumored reunion actually come to fruition. Speaking on The Talk, Cube claims to have a few tricks up his sleeve for his forthcoming headlining set at Coachella. That trick, of course, will be the actual reunion of the group at one of the nation’s largest music festivals; a fitting and epic return for the pioneers.

Coachella will be held during two consecutive weekends in April, the 15th through the 24th. Praying for no holograms.
