Shortly after Nipsey Hussle‘s death last March, a memorial developed in the parking lot of The Marathon clothing store where he was fatally shot.
According to a report in TMZ, the memorial site outside of his Marathon Clothing store is being shut down at the request of the late rapper’s family due to bootleggers and opportunist merchants.
The site has reportedly been overrun by merchants and bootleggers attempting to sell merchandise and monetize of the slain rapper’s name. Alongside fan notes, flowers, and tributes, bootleg items such as T-shirts, on-site tours and flyers for events are being peddled. Food trucks have also started to set up shop as the number of visitors to the lot increases.
It’s unclear when the memorial will be taken down.
