Darden has worked as a defense attorney in murder cases since serving as one of the prosecutors in the Simpson trial.

Eric Holder, the man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle, is being represented by Chris Darden, the attorney who prosecuted O.J. Simpson in his 1994 murder case.

During a court appearance Thursday afternoon, Holder was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Darden, on behalf of Holder, entered a plea of not guilty. The judge also set Holder's bail at $5 million. Holder's next court proceeding will take place May 10.

According to the Los Angeles TimesJohn McKinney, a prosecutor in Holder's case, said that Darden "had been privately retained for Holder."

Social media users have since offered their thoughts on Darden representing Holder.

Rapper Meek Mill even referred to Darden as a "house ni**a" for defending Holder.

Most known for serving as one of the prosecutors in the Simpson trial, Darden had asked Simpson to try on the gloves thought to be used in the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. However, the gloves didn't appear to fit that day and ended up shifting public opinion on the case, making it one of the most memorable moments to occur during the trial.

"I think it's a wonderful moment, actually," Darden said to ABC News in 2016. "A lot has been said about these gloves. I sit back and watch my former friends and former colleagues talk about that. I think they're being disingenuous in some ways."

"I stood there with him. I let him put those gloves on. Why not? They're his gloves," Darden continued. "And the gloves fit the same way they had always fit him...He's a better actor than I thought he was."

Holder has reportedly been placed in isolation at a police station in South Los Angeles. The site goes on to report that police "refuse to let Holder mingle with the general population, because they believe he's a target."
