At long last, Mary J. Blige is getting the up-close documentary treatment she so rightly deserves. A new documentary dedicated to her extended recording efforts while making the London Sessions LP, will make its world premiere at the TriBeCa Film Festival in New York City this April. Details on the documentary itself are currently scarce, but it's been confirmed that the film, entitled Mary J. Blige--The London Sessions will hold a prominent place in the festival's lineup. Blige collaborators Sam Smith and Disclosure are expected to appear in the documentary, and miss Mary herself will perform at the TriBeCa fest as well.

Idolator was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the documentary last fall, and praised its focus on Blige's soaring vocal talent. "The main highlight threaded throughout it is the genuine friendship between Blige and her collaborators, which is reflected in all of the songs that we’ve heard off the [The London Sessions] thus far," the website reported. Thankfully the album in question is fully available for your listening pleasure. Pick up The London Sessions on iTunes if you haven't already done so and stay tuned for more details on the Mary J. Blige documentary as they arrive.
