Mo'Nique Is Reportedly Playing the Lead Role in New Film 'Mother Trucker'

The action-adventure film is set in the '70s during the Congressional impeachment hearings to remove President Richard Nixon.

Mo'Nique has reportedly signed on for the lead role in an upcoming film titled Mother Trucker.

According to Variety, the movie is set in the '70s during the Congressional impeachment hearings to remove President Richard Nixon from office, Nixon resigned from office in 1974. Mo'Nique will portray a mother dealing with anger management issues.

The film will allegedly center around her stealing her late husband's trucking haul to provide her daughter. As they travel on a cross-country adventure she finds out how her husband died and "vents her rage upon his racist killers."

The indie film will be written by J. Oyer Thomas, former HBO executive producer. Thomas has directed, written and produced commercial and short-form content for HBO series The Sopranos and Game of Thrones.

In an official statement, Mo'Nique touches on the upcoming film:

"Never in my 30 years of being in entertainment have I seen a film with a badass black woman that has the balance of funny, drama, and action while addressing the challenges women of color face everyday, like 'Mother Trucker.'"
